On November 13th, 2024, Benelux Baltics in Business, in collaboration with Copos Capital, hosted an engaging event centered around quantitative investing. The event was designed to provide young professionals with an interactive introduction to this dynamic field, allowing them to dive into its intricacies while connecting with industry experts.
A Diverse Audience Initiative
The event brought together a vibrant mix of participants, quantitative investment enthusiasts, young professionals and students from Lithuania studying in the Netherlands. Held at the iconic Adam’s Tower in Amsterdam, with its breathtaking panoramic views of the city, the event proved to be a perfect blend of education, interaction, and networking.
Deep Dive into Quantitative Investing
The session was led by Vytautas Žukauskas, a Copos Capital team member, who guided attendees through the principles and practical applications of quantitative investing. While many in the audience already had a solid understanding of these principles, the event offered them the opportunity to deepen their knowledge. For example, Patrikas Rudys, Copos Capital quantative investment specialist demonstrated a real-time back-testing process, providing valuable insights into practical investment analysis. Additionally, the session featured knowledge-sharing on diverse investment strategies, sparking meaningful discussions. The interactive format encouraged participants to engage, ask questions, and actively contribute. It wasn’t just about learning; it was an open dialogue where investment enthusiasts could satisfy their curiosity and gain new perspectives on this complex subject.
Meet the Experts: Patrikas Rudys and Marius Karlavičius
The attendees also had the chance to meet Patrikas Rudys and Marius Karlavičius, two key professionals from Copos Capital. They shared their experiences of working at the company, discussing the challenges they’ve faced, their personal successes, and the collaborative and innovative culture that defines the company. This gave attendees a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the life of quantitative investing professionals, sparking inspiration and excitement.
Marius Karlavičius, an Investing Specialist, shared his thoughts on the event: “We were impressed by the audience that gathered. Everyone was active, curious, and optimistic. It was a pleasure to share our experience, knowing they were absorbing all the information. I’m happy to see the future of quantitative investing in such promising hands. The audience at this event was incredibly ambitious and eager to learn.”
Learning Through Play: The Investment Game
The second half of the event introduced a playful yet insightful activity—a card-based investment game. With an informal yet highly engaging vibe, investment enthusiasts tested their skills by “buying” and “selling” with play capital, competing to see who could achieve the best returns. This hands-on experience brought energy and excitement to the room, allowing attendees to apply strategic thinking and experience the fast-paced decision-making typical of real-world investing. The relaxed atmosphere encouraged creativity and collaboration, making the activity both educational and fun.
Viltė Pociūtė, a second-year economics student at Erasmus University, expressed her excitement: “It’s such a great feeling to be among people who are motivating and actively looking for opportunities in their professional lives. This event was truly inspiring and valuable.”
Networking and Building Connections
The event transitioned into a networking session. This informal segment allowed participants to connect with Copos Capital professionals and gain deeper insights into the industry. Conversations flowed as young professionals explored potential career paths and exchanged ideas with seasoned experts.
Karolis Lajauskas shared his enthusiasm, saying: “I was thrilled to attend this event, as the field of financial technology holds deep meaning for me. I’m always eager to deepen my knowledge, learn from industry professionals, and connect with like-minded individuals.”
