Expanding to Benelux?

Help Us Build Better Support for You. Take a Survey.

When Baltic companies decide to scale into the Benelux region, the first questions are practical. How do they find the right partners? Who can introduce them to decision-makers? What are the regulatory requirements? How do they build visibility and credibility in a new market?

Some companies are preparing for their first entry. Others are already active and want to strengthen their position, expand partnerships or establish a more permanent presence. The support required at each stage is different. One business may need strategic preparation and a structured market overview. Another may prioritise brand positioning, hiring support or access to trusted local advisors. For some, networking platforms create the most value. For others, targeted B2B matchmaking or a clear marketing and communication strategy makes the real difference.

Recognising these differences, BBinB is launching its first structured questionnaire among Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian companies operating in or targeting the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg. The objective is to better understand what Baltic businesses actually expect when entering Benelux markets, which support services might be actual or they value most and where there may be gaps between expectations and our current offering. In short, we are reviewing our own alignment.

For participating companies, the value is practical. Your feedback directly influences how BBinB prioritises resources, structures services and designs future support models. If we understand clearly what matters most - whether that is precise market mapping, stronger B2B introductions, access to legal and financial advisors or strategic communication planning - we can focus on delivering measurable business impact. Participants may also request a short overview of aggregated findings, offering insight into how other Baltic companies approach international expansion and what they prioritise.

All responses will be analysed in aggregated form and used internally to refine BBinB’s service model and long-term strategy. Individual company data will remain confidential. This is not an evaluation exercise; it is a calibration process aimed at continuous improvement of cross-border business support between the Baltics and the Benelux region.

To lead this initiative, Tėja Jankaitytė has joined BBinB as Sociological Researcher. Her role is to structure feedback, identify patterns and ensure that insights translate into practical service improvements. As Teja notes, “Good advisory is not static. It evolves together with the companies it supports.” Her focus is to ensure that the time businesses invest in providing feedback results in clearer, more relevant and more effective support structures.

International expansion is not only about regulation or sales pipelines. It is also about understanding expectations, business culture and partnership dynamics. The better these elements are aligned, the more sustainable and efficient cross-border growth becomes. Looking ahead, this research may also help identify sector-specific trends, differences between B2B and B2C expansion needs, and how support requirements evolve as companies move from early entry to established presence. In the longer term, there is potential to explore how Benelux partners perceive Baltic companies and what strengthens long-term cooperation on both sides.

We respect the time of founders, executives and international teams. The questionnaire takes approximately seven to ten minutes. That is all we are asking. This initiative is designed to strengthen understanding, improve alignment and ensure that BBinB remains a relevant and effective partner for Baltic companies building, exporting and scaling into the Benelux market—and potentially vice versa in the future.
